If the amount obtained is more than Rs.5 crore using the false GST invoices, it imposes imprisonment of up to 5 years plus a fine, and if it exceeds Rs.2 crore but not more than Rs.5 crore, the imprisonment may be up to 3 years plus fine.

Furthermore, if the fake invoices utilize Rs.1 crore but less than Rs.5 the penalty is the same but if it raises the commission of any above-mentioned offences the imprisonment varies from 6 months to years or a fine.

How to Verify Genuine or Fake GST Invoice?
